If you’ve followed my blog from the very beginning, you’ll know that my very FIRST blog post was at: Three Bags Full.
In that blog post I mentioned that I’ve visited Three Bags Full three times, and since then (August 2011) I haven’t had the chance to revisit due to time constraints.
Since the last visit and until now I’ve read that they would be opening a new venture: Two Birds One Stone. Of course I was very excited and have been waiting ever since.
Finally on the 16th of July 2012, they opened their doors to the public! Today (21st July) I finally had a chance to visit and it was great to see the familiar faces from Three Bags Full :D
No… You’re not seeing things, I’ve definitely had English Breakfast Tea instead of hot chocolate! Why? Well yesterday on my way to work I grabbed a hot chocolate from Coffee HQ at the station, and it was quite frankly the most horrible hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life. It tasted nothing but soy milk and they charged me a disgusting $6.00 for it. Then later my good friend at work @sopface, bought me a some hot chocolate from Theobroma (which was great), and I think I’ve overdosed on hot chocolate that I really needed to have something other than hot chocolate.
The English Breakfast Tea comes served in a beautiful deep seafoam green (not quite Tiffany green) together with a pot of tea, a small glass bottle of milk (So cute!).
I like to have my English Breakfast Tea with a teaspoon of raw sugar and milky :)
I’m not a person to choose something for breakfast and quite often I would feel ill after eating something sweet. However, when I was looking at the menu my eyes were pretty much glued to the Twice cooked marmalade french toast, oranges and vanilla mousse, and I’m very glad to say that I love it! :D
The French Toast were light, fluffy, not overly eggy (which is what I like), bit of orange zest to give it a light orangey taste. Crispy on the edges and soft on the inside. Together with the very light vanilla mousse and freshly cut orange segments it was perfect. Even mopping up the thin honey syrup was enough to make me smile :) The whole dish is very light and didn’t feel oily or overly sweet!
Two Birds and One Stone is a very busy cafe even though it’s been opened for less than one week! If you’re planning in going in large groups, you’ll need to have your name put on the waiting list, but if you’re on your own, you’ll probably get a table a lot quicker like I did :)
After I finished with my meal I had a very brief chat to one of the business partners, Ben Clarke (*waves*), who told me that they have sold off Three Bags Full (*cries*) 2-3 months ago. Whilst I’m sad about it, I’m glad to see that the lovely crew of Three Bags Full are now at Two Birds One Stone :) Oh and it was of great honour to finally meet Nathan, the mastermind behind these great cafes! (*waves*). The main thing that matters is that their Chocolate Cheesecake brownie is available at Two Birds One Stone, so i’m super happy :D (Crisis Averted!)
I will definitely make more visits considering it’s in an area that I haven’t visited much, and I also noticed that George Calombaris’ Mama Baba is nearby!
So definitely another cafe I highly recommend – my favourite friendly crew from Three Bags Full, Chocolate Cheesecake brownie and now their awesome French Toast. Nomnomnom.
