Over the weekend I had the pleasure of catching up with my FAVOURITE pilates instructor, Elle over breakfast at One Thirty Two Chapel St cafe. For almost 6 months, I have been attending Elle’s Barre/Pilates classes at Kaya Health Club and recently she introduced me to her favourite cafe on Chapel St, and so I was intrigued to check out One Thirty Two, as well as finding out what a pilates instructor eats on a regular basis.
One Thirty Two is a located along the busy Chapel Street, from the outset, it appears to have a small shopfront, but upon stepping in, I soon realise the cafe is actually quite spacious. I was promptly greeted by friendly staff and was asked whether I wanted coffee to start with. I settled with a skinny cappuccino whilst I waited for Elle.
Once Elle arrived, I asked her for her suggestions – she recommended me the Ancient Grain Salad, but also mentioned how amazing the current special was – the banana bread topped with homemade peanut butter parfait, berry meringue and dehydrated fruits! As for Elle herself, she had poached eggs, kale and mushrooms on toast.
If you’re after a healthy salad that is filling and full of texture, I highly recommend this Ancient Grain Salad with poached eggs. I added some poached chicken to the side, but it is just as good on its own. I love the sautéed kale, dried currents and pickled onions mixed through – it adds subtle sweetness, freshness and texture to the dish! LOVE!
OH MY GOD! Can this banana bread special become part of their permanent menu! This is ABSOLUTELY amazing. I’m a lover of banana bread, but this was extra special. The smooth, creamy peanut butter parfait smeared onto the thick pieces of banana bread made it so decadent, that I could have seriously polished the entire dish off myself!
This is definitely a no fuss cafe that serves serious good coffee and food. I can understand why Elle is always there and I can’t wait to go back and try their other dishes! Thanks for recommending One Thirty Two to me Elle!
