Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard | Adelaide Hills

Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills where apples, pears, cherries and wine grapes grows, is a beautiful vineyard that was established in 1992 – Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard. This chef hat awarded winning vineyard was one of the first Cellar Door to open in Adelaide Hills. I was excited to stop at Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard for lunch during my recent visit to South Australia. We were seated on table with breathtaking views and was promptly served with water before our 5 course degustation with matching wines. To start, we had a beautiful olive organic sourdough served with airy house churned butter. The sour dough was light and fluffy with pieces of olive laced through the bread. Shortly after, we were served a jar of pureed cauliflower topped with chicken thigh / roasted garlic floss. The puree was so light and airy with a subtle taste of cauliflower. The golden chicken/garlic floss added a dimension and texture to this starter. What a beautiful way to start the meal. Next we were served a colourful, fresh plate …

Recently, I was given the opportunity to visit Rochford Winery to try out Head Chef Ciaran Butler’s new Winter menu and their award winning wines. Whilst Winter is coming to an end, I’m sure my review and photos will show you the calibre of their dishes, which will warrant you to visit the restaurant to try the next season’s menu. I took along my good friend and fellow blogger Maggie (Gastronomical Ramblings). We started the afternoon with some warm crusty bread and creamy, smooth butter. Nothing beats pulling apart crusty bread, smearing a generous amount of butter, sprinkling a bit of salt and popping it into your mouth. Maggie and I decided to go for the three course meal. For our dishes we had the Crab Cakes and Blackmore’s Wagyu Tartare. The Crab …

Giant Steps / Innocent Bystander Winery

Address: 336 Maroondah Hwy, Healesville, 3777 Phone: (03) 5962 6111 Chefs: Heath Farrow Website: Foodie Partner: Nick I remember visiting Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander Winery about 3-4 years ago when I was still completing my bachelors degree. At that time I was visiting my dear friend who was working at his parent’s nursing home in Healesville. Fast forward 3-4 years, I re-visited the place yesterday (01/10/2011) as my early birthday lunch celebration with my friend Nick. Given that both of us live in the eastern suburbs it didn’t take us long to arrive – it was about a half n hour drive to reach Healesville. The Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander Winery premises is very large, with brewers and cheese storage. Besides being a restaurant, they also sell local produce, and wine tasting. The staff there were very polite and helpful. Especially our waitress who was very friendly who gave us recommendations :) It’s a very busy place, so booking is essential.
