Miss Frank | Camberwell

After what seemed like a long week, I ventured out to Camberwell to check out Miss Frank that’s been trending on my instagram feed for a few weeks now – the vibrant colourful dishes really caught my eyes. The staff were very friendly and down to earth, giving us the time to settle at our table, before taking our drink order while we checked out the menu. We started off with a coffee and green tea. The dishes we ordered at Miss Frank were: Lean Green Fighting Machine, Cauliflower & Paprika fritters and the beautiful vibrant pitaya panna cotta. I personally didn’t eat the Lean Green Fighting Machine, other than a bite of the wilted greens and chick peas, however I found the greens to be quite flavoursome from the curry spice. I adore the vibrant beetroot labne that the sour dough and wilted greens were sitting on top of – it makes it so inviting! Weilynn, who I caught up with – also ordered their vibrant green smoothie. Lean Green Fighting Machine   As for myself, …

Au79 | Abbotsford

Another day, another cafe opening. This time round, is the ultra spacious Au79 located in Abbotsford, lined with gold and luscious greenery throughout the cafe. Oh, and when I say spacious, I do mean SPACIOUS. Today, I caught up with my dearest Maggie (go check out her blog: http://www.theycallmemaggie.com) for brunch. Within 10-15 minutes waiting, we were ushered by a waitress to the ‘back’ section (I will explain the story behind the inverted comas later) of the cafe where we sat amongst the most gorgeous greenery and near the second coffee making section. After stalking instagram photos of au79, and deliberating for a good 5 minutes, we placed our order. Maggie ordered her favourite – smashed avocado, while I settled for the smoked bonito croquettes, and we also ordered the granola to share. Within 10-15 minutes of ordering our food arrived. These days, every cafe has their own version of smashed avocado, and trying to out do each other by making it prettier and very instaworthy. For au79, theres is spruced up with bright orange dukkah, …

Walker’s Kitchen Cafe | Dandenong

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting Walker’s Kitchen Cafe on George St, Dandenong – in a newly developed area of central Dandenong. Upon stepping into Walker’s Kitchen Cafe, I was in awe with the beautiful minimalistic interior, from the beautiful greenery hanging from the ceiling to the chic white chairs. Within moments of settling down at our table, the waitress placed our coffee orders. I love the gorgeous matte grey colour of the cups! It really suits the chic interior of the cafe. For lunch I ordered the special for the day – Crispy Skin Barramundi on a bed of Rocket and Potato salad, whilst Mama Peachie had the Chilli scrambled eggs, sautéed leeks, cherry tomatoes with chorizo. Mama Peachie usually isn’t a fan of western food, but she was singing praises for the chilli scrambled eggs served on beautifully charred sour dough toast. I’m so glad that I ordered their special for the day – as they were very generous with the crispy skin barramundi. The rocket and potato salad was perfect accompaniment to …

Kitty Burns |Abbotsford

Over my one month summer holidays, I had the opportunity and time to venture out and visit new cafes – one of them happens to be Kitty Burns. Kitty Burns is an all day eatery that’s opened at a new apartment complex in Abbotsford, opposite to Victoria Gardens. Upon stepping into cafe you will be immediately captivated by the gorgeous interior – lush greenery, neutral toned & copper furnishings, with natural light shining through. Quite often when I visit cafes, I would immediately offer a coffee to start, but now the option of browsing the drink menus – as cafes are now becoming creative with the drink offerings. Kitty Burns offers a range of smoothies/juices, your usual coffee and tea and elixirs that are created and fermented by Naturopath Rosemary Wamsely at Raw Satya. The drink I settled with was their Espresso Tonic. My thoughts on the espresso tonic? I have mix feelings for this drink – I can’t say I hate, nor can I say I love it – but I don’t think I would order …
